Working in Denmark

The information provided here is for the use of residents of New Zealand. If you do not live in New Zealand, please consult the website of the Danish Embassy or Consulate in the country where you live.

There are a number of different types of visas that you can apply for if you wish to work or study in Denmark. To download the appropriate application form, please go to the following website:

http://australien.um.dk/en/travel-and-residence/residence%20in%20denmark/residence-and-work-permit-for-denmark/

Please note the following:

You must identify the correct application form. At the foot of the website you will find a link to the ‘Application Form Guide’.

You must identify the correct checklist. On the left side of the website, you can find a link to the checklist for New Zealand. Please note each type of visa has its own separate checklist.

On the left side of the website, you can find information about fees. Please note you need to pay the appropriate fees to:

  1. The Consulate-General in New Zealand where the application is to be lodged.
  2. The Consulate-General in Sydney, where the application is processed
  3. The Danish Immigration Service in Denmark.

Click the fees section and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the link to the fees payable to the Danish Immigration Service for the type of visa you are applying for.

Please ensure that you have completed all sections as indicated in the checklist. In particular, make sure that all the requirements stated in the checklist are met. Please make an appointment with the appropriate Consulate-General in New Zealand so that you can be sure that a consular official is available when you call. For contact details, please click here.

In some cases the application process begins in Denmark. An example is the application form for a student visa. In such cases the application form is downloaded by the relevant organisation in Denmark which completes the appropriate section and sends the application form to you. When you have completed it (do not sign it) you make an appointment with the nearest Danish Consulate General. For contact details click here. The application form must be signed in the presence of a Danish consular officer
