Why register with your Consulate?
Unfortunately, emergencies have been known to arise in countries visited by Danish tourists or in which Danish nationals or former nationals reside. Family and friends in Denmark, when they read of earthquakes or floods have contacted the Consulates in New Zealand to find out whether their relatives, be they tourists or residents, have been affected. For this reason the Danish Consulates believe that it would be useful to have a register of Danish nationals and former nationals so that we are in a position to respond to inquiries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relatives and friends in Denmark should should we experience an emergency or disaster.
